Summary | 0000696: Cloud backup using Bareos
Description | After read this discussion and the last answer: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/bareos-devel/_cxSaZc31WI I would like to know, if i have a server on cloud (a VPS), is bareos going to work well, and backup my local machines (using external ip and ports configuration), remotely? I thought about this because would be a way to backup my data for cloud using bareos, while this feature is not avaliable.

So, what is this ticket about? Yes, you can setup bareos-dir and bareos-sd in a VPS and run backups. The thread you are referring to is about backup to S3 and as Marco already told, this is currently not supported. Supported Cloud Backend are CEPH and Gluster. S3 is offered as funded development, see https://www.bareos.com/en/co-funding.html. One benefit of funded development is also that we are able to see how much interest in a feature exists. |
