Summary | 0000337: Bandwidth limitation does not work with low values
Description | Setting bandwidth limits in any of the system components to rather low values (in my tests between 5 kB/s and 30 kb/s) does not have any effect. The full bandwidth is always used for backup thus blocking the internet connection completely.
Steps To Reproduce | I set the following values via the corresponding .conf files: Job (via bareos-dir.conf): Maximum Bandwidth = 15 k/s Client (via bareos-dir.conf): Maximum Bandwidth per Job = 20 k/s Storage (via bareos-sd.conf) : Maximum Bandwidth per Job = 25 k/s FileDaemon (via bareos-fd.conf) : Maximum Bandwidth per Job = 30 k/s Querying the settings via bconsole status gives: status storage: bwlimit=25kB/s status client : bwlimit=30kb/s Running any job results in Rate: 44kB/s - i.e. using the full bandwidth of the present internet connection. Even setting the values to 1k/s does not have any effect on the rate of the actual job.
Additional Information | Additional information might be found on google group "bareos-users", thread "Bandwidth issues with bareos" within full conversation between Philipp Storz and me.
