Summary | 0000298: An option to restore fifo backup into a regular file
Description | We are using FIFO backups to save mysql server, with each db being saved into its own file. This way one can restore one db without a need to restore full backup and then select db needed. However, the way restores of FIFOs are currently implemented makes it very inconvenient to restore such backups, especially if backup is being restored on another server. It would be very nice to have an option (in fileset or in restore command) to have FIFO backups to be restored as plain files. Thank you.

There are different ways to deal with FIFOs in Bareos. readfile=yes in the FileSet options in one option. The other is to use the bpipe plugin, see http://doc.bareos.org/master/html/bareos-manual-main-reference.html#bpipe If you're using the bpipe plugin you can overwrite the restore command and therefore optionally restore the backup to a file (overwriting: at least in newer versions of Bareos). Therefore I see this problem as solved. |
