Summary0000337: Bandwidth limitation does not work with low values
DescriptionSetting bandwidth limits in any of the system components to rather low values (in my tests between 5 kB/s and 30 kb/s) does not have any effect. The full bandwidth is always used for backup thus blocking the internet connection completely.
Steps To ReproduceI set the following values via the corresponding .conf files:
Job (via bareos-dir.conf): Maximum Bandwidth = 15 k/s
Client (via bareos-dir.conf): Maximum Bandwidth per Job = 20 k/s
Storage (via bareos-sd.conf) : Maximum Bandwidth per Job = 25 k/s
FileDaemon (via bareos-fd.conf) : Maximum Bandwidth per Job = 30 k/s

Querying the settings via bconsole status gives:
status storage: bwlimit=25kB/s
status client : bwlimit=30kb/s

Running any job results in Rate: 44kB/s - i.e. using the full bandwidth of the present internet connection. Even setting the values to 1k/s does not have any effect on the rate of the actual job.
Additional InformationAdditional information might be found on google group "bareos-users", thread "Bandwidth issues with bareos" within full conversation between Philipp Storz and me.
